If you have grown accustomed to their great wheat flour, you might as well get along with their digital TV offering. Azam TV is the latest digital satellite Pay TV service provider to enter the Ugandan market and they are quite sure they aren’t late.
With over 50 channels at only UXG 25,000, Azam TV hopes to have some of the Pay TV pie. The company is also offering a special promotion for early adopters of UGX 250, 000 for their satellite dish and decoder. You also get one month free. For this price range, you get 45 channels and 20 radio stations for UGX 27,000 on DSTV’s Access package and 46 channels for Zuku’s Poa package that goes for UGX 20,000. Startimes’ StarSat special offers 40 channels for UGX 25,000. Of course the channel lists are different, so it’s just not the numbers here that count.
The UGX 25K however, doesn’t include installation costs. You’ll have to part with another UGX 40,000 for installation costs just like DSTV. The service provider is currently supporting Payway, MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money as your payment options.
Among the 50 channel list, you get to enjoy African Movie Channel, MGM Movie Channel as some of the movie options. Sports lovers get to watch Setanta Africa, Kombat Sports among others. For international news, they’ve BBC News Al Jazeera – English. This list is not exhaustive, so just check out their site for a full list of channels we couldn’t mention here. Since the service is satellite-based, coverage and therefore signal quality is trivial here.
When it comes to comparing digital TV providers, the concern of whether or not free-to-air channels remain free even after your subscription has expired is of profound importance for us. For Azam TV which has a well rounded list of East African free-to-air channels, once your subscription is done, you only get to watch UBC and that’s it.
If you want to give them a shot, then call them on 0417709900/0414581441 or drive to their service centre located at Plot 19 golf course Rd, Kololo Kampala. Let us know about your experience with the service.
