Vodafone Uganda launches “JUMP” an online youth learning platform

Vodafone Uganda launched “Jump” a content based online youth learning platform. Launched at Serena on the 10th of January, the platform aims to inspire the youth with exciting content meant to enhance learning. The platform so far has some broad content categories such as Inspiration & Self Improvement, Lifestyle and Learning, Education and Entrepreneurship.

“A key pillar in our strategy is a tremendous focus on the youth segment. In all our markets 60 – 70 percent of the population is below 25 years of age, signalling an impressive pool of talent and immense capacity just waiting to be tapped into. The current trend in the use of digital media across our markets, in demographic terms, fully underscores the vital importance of supporting this segment.” Ms Yemi Lawal, Regional Director, Youth Segment.

The content takes on the form of text, images and video to enable learning. This is a step in the right direction especially that most of the content is written locally and meant to be locally relevant to the youth who are struggling with learning everything they can to power their businesses, improve their lives and so much more.

Of course the issue is data which is a major hiccup for many but hopefully it will get more affordable with time since most educational content is delivered by video. That notwithstanding, this is a great initiative and we look forward to what will come out of it.
