We love that this model comes with an improved video preview so you can track all the moments. There’s also an improved motion detector which means you never have to miss anything with this camera.
To get the most out of this product, we recommend purchasing the bundle that comes with a ring chime. That way, you can get notified when there’s a doorbell sound. However, you can also get mobile notifications whenever anyone taps on your bell or triggers the motion sensors.

The most interesting feature of the Pro 2 is that you can prerecord messages for your guests whenever you’re not available. So once you get an alert that someone is outside, you just play the message with a tap. We also love that it has two-way talk audio for when you’re home and that it works with Alexa.
This model has a super clear camera, and 3D motion sensing so you see what people are actually doing. The alerts are also real time and the camera has a bird’s eye view so you can also track aerial motion. If you want to see the live video feed, pair this up with an Echoshow or Fire tablet.
Unfortunately, the only downside to this ring doorbell is that it’s hardwired and so you need your existing doorbell wiring. However, it’s the perfect option especially if you prefer a sleek design.

For example, you still get clear motion alerts, two-way audio so you can respond without going to the door, and a WiFi connection. Since it doesn’t have any batteries, it’s also lighter and more compact. To get the best out of this device, we recommend pairing it with a ring chime so you can hear any audio alerts.
Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Edition
Key Specification
- 1080P HD video
- Built-in motion sensors
- Mobile notifications
- Two-way audio
- Night vision
Price: $99.99
This model is an update to the original ring video doorbell. It’s also different from the Ring 2 which faced a ton of challenges and was discontinued. The 2nd edition video doorbell comes with an improved motion detector, better night vision, privacy zones, and more.
It’s powered by built-in rechargeable batteries. However, this means you’d have to pretty much take out the whole doorbell when you need to charge. So, we recommend using an existing doorbell wire to power it.
You can also get mobile notifications on your phone, tablet, or PC whenever anyone triggers the motion detector. It’s easy to set up with the ring app and you can always upgrade with a ring protect subscription plan.
While there are several other models available like the Ring doorbell 1st generation, the doorbell 3, and the ring doorbell pro. While these are good choices, we don’t recommend them especially since you can get a newer model at the same price.
We hope that you’ve found this guide useful in choosing your next ring video doorbell camera. Do share this post with your friends and family who might need this too.
