Oxygen OS: OnePlus now have a name for their custom ROM

OxygenOS

As we earlier reported, OnePlus was looking for a name for their soon coming operating system. After a couple of weeks, they have finally gotten a name for their custom OS that is launching later this year. The Chinese smartphone maker will finally ship phones with their custom OS called “Oxygen OS”. Currently OnePlus phones run the popular forked version of Android called “Cyanogen”. Bradon H an administrator on the OnePlus platform is quotes saying;

As many of you know, we will be launching our own ROM in the near future. We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what this ROM means to us and our fans. We realized that, like everything we do, our true goal is to make the product that we ourselves would want to use—to make great technology more accessible for everyone. With our ROM, that means software that is open, customizable, and free of bloat and unnecessary features.

Having noticed potential hiccups with Cyanogen in the future, they decided to make their own OS. As always they took the popular route of crowd sourcing the name for their OS. This gives it the feel of an OS that was named by the people. And after hundreds of thousands of suggested names, they finally picked Oxygen OS suggested by a Belgium fan of the OnePlus One.

Rumor has it that they are working on the “OnePlus Two”. Will it come with the Oxygen OS? will still have the affordable price tag and crazy specs that the OnePlus One is popular for? I am looking forward to what they have to offer in 2015.
