In a bid to expand it’s Airtel Money agent network across the country, Airtel Uganda has announced plans to set up 537 Airtel kiosks in the next 15 days. The announcement was made on HK strategies website, Airtel’s PR firm. Most of kiosks will be set up upcountry acting as a one stop center for Airtel services such as SIM card purchases and registrations, data connectivity and consultations on all Airtel’s offerings with Airtel Money being the major service.
Airtel Uganda Managing Director, Mr. Tom Gutjahr is quoted saying;
By opening up more than 500 kiosks, we are answering requests that we have received from both our existing and potential customers across the country to bring our services closer to them. I encourage all Airtel subscribers to utilize these kiosks and enjoy the best that the network has to offer
Airtel Money allows it’s clients to send money across networks, pay utility bills, top up your airtime or mobile data and withdraw money from an Airtel Money agent or ATM. Airtel Money subscribers are estimated at 3.4M with over 12,000 agents country wide. Airtel Uganda has been aggressive on the mobile money front with numerous campaigns and innovations to that effect.

Enabling users to pay for fuel at 45 stations in Uganda or make transactions on their bank accounts or even pay KCCA fees.
Being the 2nd biggest mobile money player in the market after MTN Uganda, Airtel Uganda seems determined to grow its mobile money subscriber base. A bigger agent network will definitely ensure easier accessibility to Airtel Money and this is the goal of increasing their agents. We also found out that Airtel is implementing the kiosks in most of their countries of operation in Africa.
