You’ll now have to dial 100 to reach MTN Uganda customer care line in a few days

MTN Uganda voice customers will have to dial 100 instead of the current 123 to access customer care with effect from Sunday, 19th April 2015, the mobile Telecom has posted on its Facebook page.

The development is part of a new requirement by industry regulator Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) which intends to standardize mobile network services in the country;

“As required by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), MTN Uganda will be changing all its customer helpline numbers to 100.” the telecom posted.

The new customer helpline 100 is a standard national number that all mobile voice customers in Uganda will use to access customer support services on their respective networks.

Up until now, customers have been forced to cram various customer care numbers and short codes which has been cause a lot of complains from mobile users. But that’s about to change.

Two months ago, the mobile giant changed the short codes for loading and checking airtime balance in order to conform to the regulatory requirements of UCC.
