The Government of Uganda has recently come under fire for inefficient processes and methods which are still largely driven by lots of paperwork. That’s why the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) this month launched the Government Procurement Portal (GPP), a web based procurement platform that aims to promote efficiency and accountability in public procurement.
Currently running as a subdomain of the PPDA, the portal contains the most recent government tenders from various government arms and institutions across the country. It also has a search feature that helps you filter through specific search items of interest, procurement plans, disposal plans and notices, signed contracts, suspended providers.
Francis Kisirinya, the director of finance at the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) told the New Vision that the portal will encourage Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to do business with government and that the portal will encourage openness in public procurement.
