Accessing email on your mobile device is currently the most frustrating thing anyone can do with their devices. There are no standards, the screens are small, data speeds are slow and the user experience is simply annoying. However, Email is now part of us and why not access it on mobile than walk to a cafe or wait to get to work? Here are your emotions
Gmail Java App
Otherwise, i will upload the steps so you can try with your service provider, though am hopefull it will work. However, i normally use the Gmail java application that you can download from m.google.com and then select Gmail. It’s very good and has rich features such as composing, reply, forward,labels or folders,contacts, pretty much everything that you’ll find on the desktop web application.
The only feature it doesn’t have is sending attachments. This is very important for me say for instance when i need to upload photos taken on my phone camera to my Picasa web album or facebook. This is where i need the inbuilt Nokia email client since it supports attachments and integrates with my phone book too. So, you may need both application especially if you’re a Gmail user.
Nokia Email Push service
Alternatively, if you’re not a Gmail user, then you can consider Nokia’s email push free services. With this free email push service, you will submit any email address to Nokia and they will retrieve email for you and push it to your Nokia phone. You’ll however have to download a specific email app from the Nokia Ovi store.
Funambol Sync service
Another alternative I came across is using an email service by Funambol. It’s also an email push service meaning they don’t provide you with new email accounts, rather you give them your email address. With their email application installed on your phone, they push email from the submitted email address to your phone. The downside to this service is that It’s only free for 90 days after which they recommend you to one of their customers and so you will have to pay. But i think It’s worth it if you’re a heavy email user and want to access it on the go. Otherwise this is it with mobile email options.
