Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB Group) will effect a planned region-wide shutdown over the weekend to allow a Core Banking System upgrade for improved service delivery. The shutdown will commence on Friday 12th August 2016 at 3 P.M to Sunday 14th August 2016 at midnight across KCB branches in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan. Normal services will resume on Monday 15th August 2016 at 8 A.M
Throughout the planned system upgrade, only over-the-counter banking services alone will be affected. ATM services will still be operational for cash withdrawals. The following will be available for customers in Kenya:
- ATM and Mobile banking *522# and App (Balance enquiries, Transfer from KCB to M-PESA and Cash Withdrawals (ATM);
- Point of Sale (POS) Payments;
- KCB M-PESA (Balance enquiries, transfers from bank to M-PESA).
KCB Group is looking to further spread its services across more markets. The bank opened a representative office in Ethiopia in 2015, a small victory in a rather closed economy. KCB is also targeting entry into Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mozambique in the near future. The bank provides retail and wholesale banking financial services.
