Uganda qualifies for Africa Cup of Nations after 38 year wait. Social media reacts accordingly

Uganda is undoubtedly a footballing country of some repute. This is especially true in the East and Central Africa region where the Uganda Cranes dominate year in and year out. But if yesterday’s victory is anything to go by, our cup of euphoria is filled to the brim, and overflowing.

The Uganda Cranes last qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations in 1978. At the time, we had no internet, Idi Amin, the dictator still had the reigns of power firmly within his grasp, and more than 80% of Ugandans had not yet been born yet. Imagine. Much has changed since then. Ugandans took to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, e.t.c to follow the match, share in the love and jubilate with those at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
