5 ways you can use your TV’s HDMI port

The HDMI has become a digital interface used to transfer high quality audio and video signal between devices. It is now very widely used to transfer data to a TV from any compatible input device, even if the input device does not have an HDMI port, and it is on the verge of completely replacing analog interfaces.

Connecting PS/Xbox Console to TV

With your HDMI cable handy, the steps to follow are rather simple and easy to execute. Turn off the TV and console system, and disconnect them from the power supply. Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI OUT connector on the rear of the PS/Xbox console. Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input connector of the TV.

Reconnect the console to the power supply and turn it on. Do the same for the TV. The PS/Xbox console system will detect the HDMI display device automatically. You should then follow the on-screen instructions to confirm HDMI output, and to switch to the optimal settings so as to confirm the maximum resolution of the HD picture you need.

Connecting with your Laptop/PC

Here, all you need to do is plug one end of the HDMI cable into your laptop and the other end into one of the HDMI ports on your TV. Ensure that your laptop is switched on, and your TV is set to the correct channel, so that the laptop can automatically configure to give you the best settings from here.

If the setting is not automated as wanted, go to the control panel of your PC, select Display, and select Adjust Resolution. Select your TV under display to match the settings that are suitable for it.

Connecting to your DVD/Blu-ray player

If you have an HDTV with an HDMI port, this is the simplest way to hook up your Blu-ray Player. Connect the HDMI jack on the player to the HDMI jack on an HDMI-compatible TV or monitor.
