The past couple of weeks treated mobile phone owners to security tension, in the wake of rampant crimes committed over unregistered numbers.
After coming to an agreement, the regulatory bodies in NIRA and UCC have provided telecos with the equipment to verify SIM card ownership in times of replacement and acquisition.
Airtel Uganda has announced that it’s SIM Card replacement service is now available at the select Airtel Service Centres listed below. These have been equipped with the National ID verification and biometric systems.

You can now get your Airtel SIM Card replaced by presenting an original National ID for Ugandans, or a Passport for foreigners, and a letter from Police stating the loss of your SIM card at any of the following Service centres;
Kampala
Ntinda shop (opposite the mosque), Head office shop (Clement Hill), Plaza-Jinja road opposite KCB, and Forest Mall shop-Lugogo bypass.
Gulu
Plot 24, Coronation road.

Costs
Note that any SIM card replacement can only be done by the SIM card owner and not their representatives, at only Ugx 2,000.
