Unboxing Infinix Hot 6 with Face ID: Here are the First Impressions, Specs, Price & Where to Buy

Infinix Hot 6

If you must blink, do it now. The Infinix Hot 6 is fresh out the oven. Once you get ahold of this beauty in your grasp, you won’t be doing much blinking, I can assure you of that. The Hot 6 is a gorgeously contoured 6-inch device fitted with an 18:9 Infinity Screen. It’s tall and slender with seamless curved edges, a nod to high-end Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

I’d wager, if smartphones on the African market ever held a beauty contest, the Infinix Hot 6 would take the crown, hands down. Not with that sleek unibody design.

The Hot 6 runs the very latest Android Oreo 8.1 Go Edition. We have covered Android Go at length, but a recap wouldn’t hurt. Basically, Android Go is a lighter but no less powerful version of Android which utilises much less system resources than we’re accustomed to. The Google apps (e.g Google Go, YouTube Go, Gmail Go, e.t.c) are re-engineered to leave as little as footprint as possible on your system.

First Impressions

Infinix Hot 6

First things first; the Hot 6 is really slender, measuring only 160.43 x 76.21 x 8.3 mm. Our review device was all Sandstone Black. The all-black unibody blended well with the screen. This is a smartphone Batman would approve of, no doubt. The device is deceptively tall to accommodate the 18:9 Infinity Screen.

To your left, you will find the dual-SIM card slot. It accepts only MicroSIM. So Nano and MiniSIM users are out of luck. This side is also home to the volume buttons. Conversely, the SD card slot is on the right side next to the power button. This arrangement provides much better one-handed dexterity. For some reason, the earphone jack is located at the bottom next to the speakers and a MicroUSB slot.

Infinix Hot 6

Infinix crammed so much screen into the frame, that it looks bigger, and yet still fits in your palm. Overall, it feels like a premium device regardless of the plastic build. I would say this has something to do with the design. The svelte body which wraps around the device is delicious eye candy. You have to see it to believe it.

Turning on the device is like stepping into a dream. The HD screen is simply glorious. The XOS Hummingbird icons are well rendered and the performance is fluid. It’s doubly impressive given that we have a playing field of only 1GB of RAM.

Perhaps given this RAM ceiling, the Hot 6 ships with Android Oreo Go Edition, which is basically Android on a diet. The idea behind Android Go is that entry-level and low-end smartphones don’t get left out whenever a new more powerful Android flavor hits the market.
