PRESS RELEASE: Jumia Food, the food delivery branch of Jumia Uganda, has appointed Timothy Mugume as the new Country Manager for Uganda.
Mr Mugume has been the Jumia Travel Country Manager, and he brings to the Food department a great expertise and understanding of e-commerce amassed over the past 5 years.
Ron Kawamara, the Regional Managing Director of Jumia Food says they are excited to see Mr. Mugume bring his experience of winning in a fiercely competitive space to the Jumia Food business in Uganda.
“I am confident he will lead us to the next stage of growth, as we double down on offering the best food delivery experience for our customers.”
Speaking about his appointment, Mr. Mugume elaborated his plans to grow the online food delivery business in Uganda and his aspirations to mitigate existing industry challenges.
“We are currently delivering food for over 160 of the best restaurants in Kampala and Entebbe in under 60 minutes, with various cuisines; giving customers a wide assortment of meals to select at affordable prices. Plans are underway to expand the restaurant database and delivery radius to greater Kampala. We are also delivering fresh groceries and partnering with big distributors to deliver alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at the best market prices.” said Mr Mugume
He added that, with the current increase in traffic to the site, Jumia Food will continue providing diverse, convenient, and quality customer service.
On dealing with both existing and emerging industry challenges, he highlights the need for efficient delivery services, as well reliable and affordable internet connectivity.
