Xiaomi products other than smartphones you should know

Xiaomi is absolutely dominating the budget smartphone segment of the market. It’s what they have come to be known for globally. And rightfully so. These guys are making excellent hardware with rather powerful midrange chips at a fraction of the price that competing brands offer their comparatively underpowered devices. But then such margins are unsustainable and naturally, Xiaomi is into other businesses that help supplement and keep their smartphone business afloat.

Xiaomi also sells other products and in this post, we shall look at some of them.

WiFi routers

When it comes to Wi-Fi routers, you’re probably used to players and names like Linksys, TP-Link, Asus and a bunch of others. What you might not know is that Xiaomi does produce and sell really good routers, and for relatively cheap too.

Case in point, their best selling router, Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router 3C comes with IEEE 802.11n/g/b and IEEE 802.3/3u Network standards which is much faster than others. It is rated for up to 300Mbps. Equipped with MediaTek MT7628N processor coupled with 64MB DDR2 and 16 MB NorFlash of internal memory. Furthermore, four powerful, high-gain external antennas give wider coverage and better performance when lots of devices are connected. It is a good product.

Mi Band

Are you into smartwatches and fitness bands? You are covered here. The Chinese company has its Mi Band line of products that have all the necessary sensors to track your body vitals and connect to your device wirelessly. The data can then be used to track things like your sleeping patterns, your general fitness, workout efficiency, heart-rate and a lot more.

There are models like The Amazfit Verge, a  smartwatch that costs just $115. It’s available for purchase in China and other select markets. The Amazfit Verge has a circular 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and the watch’s body is 46g heavy and 12.6mm thick.

Android TV Boxes

An Android TV box is simply a TV box running the Android operating system. So, a decoder that runs Android. This is the same operating system as the one running on your smartphone, tablet and millions of other devices throughout the world.

Xiaomi makes and sells Android TV boxes that help you turn your otherwise normal TV into a sort of smart TV with internet connectivity capability and multimedia support and Apps like Netflix and games…you get the idea.

Powerbanks

By far the most popular Xiaomi product other than smartphones has got to be their Powerbanks.

I have owned one of these in the past and, you know power banks are one of those things, you buy once and you kinda forget about them. There really isn’t much to say about owning one. The model I had had a rather massive 20,000mAh capacity and I barely charged that thing. It would serve me for weeks before I had to top it up overnight.

Laptops

A friend of mine told me that Xiaomi is Apple in China. If their notebook portfolio is anything to go by, that just might be the case. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air is easily the MacBook Air running Windows. It spots an Apple-like finish, design, port selection, and general aesthetics. It is no slouch under the hood either.

 1GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForce 940MX High-performance GPU,  6th Generation Intel® Core™ i5 Processor, a 1080p display, AKG tuned dual speakers, you get the idea.

These are by no means the only products that Xiaomi is into. It is a global giant. Too bad we aren’t seeing them dominate the local market, that title has to go to Transsion with Tecno, iTel, Synix and Infinix line of products.
