WhatsApp Web now supports picture-in-picture for Facebook, Youtube and Instagram

In October 2018, WhatsApp added support for PiP for various video platforms like YouTube for Android. This was many months after support for iOS was introduced and now, the Web version of WhatsApp is getting the same treatment.

The feature is live but you will need v.0.3.2041 on newer for the service to work. Users running older versions of the applications will have to to force clear the page’s cache and restart their browser.

When working correctly, users can simply click on any video preview and a pop-up player will appear floating over the current conversation window. The video can then be resized, dragged around to reposition, or switch to full-screen, control playback and volume, and open the original URL if needed.

Ideally, the service should work for Instagram, Facebook and Streamable although at the moment, only YouTube works.
