Huawei P30: Release Date, Expected Features and Price

The game-changing triple rear camera phone, Huawei P20 Pro, created a lot of disruption in the industry last year. With a focus on the continuation of that legacy, Huawei plans to release its successor – Huawei P30, to the flagship P series.

There’s a lot of buzz surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S10, the likely king of Android phones for the year, slated for launch February 20. But here’s Huawei P30, a challenger for the title all the way from China. We’ve been able to gather some useful information about the smartphone which will be discussed as we forge ahead.

Huawei P30: Release Date

Unlike earlier reports that suggested Huawei P30 will be launched at MWC 2019, Huawei has confirmed that the phone will be launched at a standalone event in Paris by late March. This falls within the same timeframe Huawei P20 smartphones were unveiled in Paris.

Huawei P30: Features to Expect

First and foremost, we’re likely to see at least two variants of the Huawei P30 series – Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro. Previous leaks have centred around these two variants; nonetheless, the history of the Huawei P series shows there’s always a Lite version. So, we could have three iterations on our hands.

While P30 is expected to sport a 6.1-inch display, P30 Pro should have 0.4 inches more than its counterpart. But the most exciting feature of the screen is the OLED technology they’re likely to possess. It differs from last year when only P20 Pro had the OLED panel, and LCD panel was implemented on the Huawei P20.

Recent renders have shown that the waterdrop notch is going to arrive with these devices. That’s a whole lot of shrinking to the U-notch on the P20 series. Even more, the notch will be in a punch-hole style similar to the Honor View 20.

The in-display fingerprint sensor, one of the features that’ll be more popular this year, will likely land on this device. As revealed by the renders, there’s no fingerprint reader found at the front or back, hence the high chance of the in-display scanner.

In similitude to Huawei P20 Pro, the P30 is expected to support the triple rear camera system. However, the P30 Pro could likely possess a quad rear camera setup. The fourth of these cameras is most likely the ToF 3D camera.

As much as 6GB, 8GB and 12GB are the speculated RAM capacities the devices could hold. What’s certain is these RAM options can’t team up with any chipset less than the 7nm Kirin 980 SoC.

Huawei P30: Possible Pricing

Having established the flagship status of the P30 series, we should expect the least variant to bag a $550 price tag and $700 for the highest edition. One more thing, it’s not likely to near the $1000 mark; seeing that the P20 smartphones didn’t get anywhere close to that figure.
