The San Diego-based tech giant, Qualcomm has taken the wraps off the latest “performance-boosting” SoC – Qualcomm Snapdragon 712. Coming as the successor to the Snapdragon 710, the chip is focused on more gaming power and revitalised performance.

Similar to its predecessor, Snapdragon 712 is built on a stunning 10nm FinFET technology. With an octa-core Kryo 360 CPU that runs at 2.3GHz, it delivers 10% better performance than Snapdragon 710 SoC of 2.2GHz speed.

As AI is at the top of its game in the industry, Snapdragon 712 is loaded with multicore Qualcomm AI Engine. For the optics, it helps to adjust camera foreground lighting in poorly lit environments, thus, producing sound results.

More so, the Adreno 616 GPU stationed on it is primed for the full console-like gaming capacity as well as cinematic movie experiences. Qualcomm Aqstic audio technology is aboard to increase sound quality when gaming. Additional audio technology such as TrueWireless Stereo Plus and Broadcast Audio technologies are packed on the SoC.

It has support for dual 20MP + 20MP cameras or a single 32MP sensor. The Hexagon 685 DSP and Spectra 250 ISP are still the same as 710’s.

Asides the increased processor speed and audio quality, another upgrade on Snapdragon 712 SoC is the Quick Charge 4+ rather than the Quick Charge 4. It has the ability to fast charge the phone from 0 to 50% in 15minutes. The internet details are embedded in the Snapdragon X15 modem capable of 800Mbps downlink and 500Mbps uplink.
