Nigerian Fintech Startup Flutterwave expands to South Africa

Popular Nigerian Startup that specializes in building payment solutions for businesses and consumers in Africa with big clients like Facebook, Uber, and partners such as blockchain – Replit. Without question, it is one of the biggest Fintech startups in the continent with investors like Mastercard, Visa, Greycroft and so on. Flutterwave has payment solutions like Rave and Barter as one of its payment platforms which have both processed billions of dollars over the years.

This move follows the company’s raising of 10 million dollars Series A funding last year October and resulted in the addition of the CEO of Visa to its board of directors. Considering, the fact that South Africa is one of the biggest economies in Africa, this is a key move in creating a unified payment system for businesses and consumers. As part of the expansion, Flutterwave launched Rave – a payment platform that allows businesses in Africa to receive payment from all over the world as well as B2B payments within the borders of Africa.

This will open up local merchants to receive payment from customers around the globe with any currency and in any form. All you have to do is share the payment link and you’ll be able to get your payments from customers around the world. A number of platforms like HostBill have adopted it as a payment gateway and a local stores too. Basically, this makes the payment part of business much easier and broadens the consumer base of its users that are normally limited by payment issues. You can just generate payment URL to paste on your social media accounts.
