Huawei is now allowed to do business with American companies after the ban was lifted, but the company is still moving full-steam foward in its bid to free itself from the shackles of Google with its own Operating System dubbed Hongmeng OS.
The OS has been undergoing testing internally and initial reviews indicate that the new OS is nothing like Huawei’s current skinned version of Android, EMUI.
The company has added a new boot animation and the OS also comes with support for customizations as per the user’s liking. Further, the user can customize the screen with widgets as well as the lock screen with several options at disposal.

The icons have been redesigned and the company has added a lot of animations to make it look attractive. It is also being reported that the overall user experience is quite smooth. Huawei has introduced a brand-new notification panel and a large search box.
There’s also a new reminder mode in the settings and the OS also comes with a brand-new ringtone to differentiate itself. As for the camera interface, it is quite simple compared to the Huawei P30 and offers fewer controls.

The testers say that there are still numbers of features that are not usable. It is not yet known if the features are locked because of confidentiality or the company is still working on those features.
Recently, when asked by a French media, Huawei founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei said that it’s very likely that HongMeng OS is faster than the Android and macOS. Earlier, it was reported that the HongMeng OS is about 60 percent faster than Android.
The company has confirmed that the HongMong OS will not be limited to just mobile operating system and will run on a wide range of devices, including routers, network switches, tablets, computers and data centers. Huawei is aiming to create a singular operating system for all of its products.
