Lightweight Google Photos launched as Gallery Go by Google

Gallery Go

Not so long ago, entry-level smartphones made for first-time users and low-income earners started coming with a special simplified Go version OS. This new operating system demands less power and space to run and so does some other pre-installed apps such as Youtube Go, Maps Go, Gmail Go, Gboard Go, and others. Gallery Go joins the list of the apps that make up the ‘Go’ ecosystem for the lower-spec smartphones whether running the Android Go OS or not. Even in its simplified form, the app will still help you sort out your images and also do some little editing.

On the inside, Gallery Go is just the dialed down version of Google Photos without the online backup and other features like photo sharing. However, the app can still do a decent work of grouping your images without any manual input. For an app that comes with a size of just 10MB, the app can still auto-enhance your photos easily with a tap of a button. Also, there are a bunch of filters that you can choose from to make your pictures better or take on a different look.

Furthermore, it is free and will only work with smartphones running Android 8.1 Oreo or higher, so if you don’t have that please don’t bother. Also, the app will be available globally but some features will only be accessible to users in certain regions. On the bright side, the app will be able to read photos from your memory card too since most of the smartphones you’re using with will most like have low internal storage. If you are a user of Google Photos, there will be no need to jump on the Gallery Go bandwagon. Although, you might want to go for the Gallery Go if you’re having just about 1GB or 2GB on your smartphone and maybe an 8GB or 16GB storage space.
