The ride-hailing scene in Nairobi is a rather vibrant one. Players like Uber, Bolt, inDriver and Little are all fighting for a chance to be the ones to drive you around town.
However, for a while now, the privilege of hailing a ride has been exclusive to major towns as many of these players only focus on the cuties. In Kenya, That is Nairobi and Mombasa; although operations in Kisumu have launched.
One player that is pushing to break that status quo is Bolt (formerly Taxify). In June, the company expanded its operations to Kisumu, Kakamega and Thika towns.
As the festive season gets into high gear and many Nairobians are expected to be heading to the countryside, Bolt is looking to make a kill by making its services available in many more towns.
As of yesterday, Bolt is now available in Nyeri, Meru, Embu, Nanyuki, Karatina, Kilifi and Malindi, adding to its earlier network of nine towns.

The company has come a long way since its debut in Nairobi, back in 2016. It launched operations in Mombasa later that year, followed by the other three towns this year. The services are also available in Naivasha, Nakuru, Kitale and Eldoret regions. These were added to the company’s list of operations in October.
