WhatsApp rolls out Dark Mode on Android in latest Beta. Here’s how to get it

Dark Mode has been a near obsession for smartphone users in the past few years. Many apps have implemented this, following the adoption of the same by Google and Apple in their respective Operating Systems.

Many apps from Google have implemented the same and by and large, the switch has been made.

One of the mainstream apps that was a little late to the party was Facebook-owned WhatsApp. There have been reports of Dark Mode coming to WhatsApp but nothing concrete came. Until now.

WhatsApp’s latest beta is finally bringing dark mode to the world’s most popular Instant messaging platform.

This feature which has been on competing platforms like Telegram for many months now is still in its Beta stages but should roll out to the official channel very soon. At the moment, this is available on WhatsApp version 2.20.13.

This feature was spotted by WABetaInfo, a blog that tracks WhatsApp developments. If you want to use the feature, you need to be a Beta tester for WhatsApp.

You can sign up for the WhatsApp Beta using this link. However, sometimes the Beta test program gets full. If you can’t sign up, there’s another way.

All you need to do is download the latest Android Beta version of the app from its APK version if you can’t wait any longer for a stable one. You can download the APK version by clicking on this link.

If dark mode is still not available even after update, you must back up your chat history and reinstall WhatsApp. However, you if still cannot see the feature after backing up chats and reinstalling the app, you need to be patient and wait for the release as the feature will be automatically be enabled in the next updates.

For now, its a waiting game to see when this gets out of beta onto the official channel.
