Google search is usually the default search engine on most of the browsers (Chrome, Opera, Firefox, etc.) we use on smartphones and computers. Due to Google’s popularity, it is not uncommon to find people who know very little about search engines like Bing, Yahoo, and Duckduckgo.
However, even though Google Search owns a huge portion of the search engine market share (about 92%), there are other search engines out there that you can (and should) try out.

Why Should You Try out Another Search Engine
Bing (the second most used search engine after Google), for instance, offers unique features like image search, games, a totally different homepage feel, all to make browsing experience an awesome one.
DuckDuckGo, another search engine available to the public, is now seeing an increase the number of its daily users, this is because it offers a feature that Google doesn’t — privacy.
Since Duckduckgo doesn’t store users’ search history, track their IP address, and has no personal data stored, it doesn’t follow users around with ads — during Incognito mode or regular browsing.
With that in mind, if you want to change your default search engine on your Chrome browser, here is how to go about it.

How to Change Search Engine on Chrome
On PC
- From your Chrome browser on your computer, click on the three-dot icon at the top-right side of the screen.
- Select ‘Settings’ from the options displayed.
- Then, scroll to the ‘Search engine’ section and select a default search engine of your choice from the drop-down.
On Mobile
The process is similar for mobile as well.
- Open the Google Chrome app your smartphone.
- Tap on the three-dot menu icon.
- Select ‘Settings’ from the options displayed.
- Tap the ‘Search engine’ and choose your preferred search engine from the list – say, Bing, Yahoo, or Ask.com.
If you then navigate back to the Chrome home page to search for any term or keyword, the result will appear from the new search engine you’ve chosen.
