Tecno Spark 5 vs Spark 4: Should You Upgrade

Just a month after it released the much-anticipated TECNO Camon 15 into the market, TECNO has released yet another smartphone —TECNO Spark 5. And just as we mentioned in an earlier published article, the Spark 5 is an upgrade to the Spark 4 that was released last year in 2019.

A Bigger Battery

Spark 5 is another big battery smartphone from TECNO. The device is backed by a massive 5000mAh non-removable battery —an upgrade from the 4000mAh battery on the Spark 4.

It is interesting to see that TECNO is paying more attention to improving the battery power of its latest phones. This is an important feature, especially for its customer base in regions with poor power supply.

Android 10 OS

The Spark 5 runs on the latest Android operating system (Android 10), an upgrade from the Android 9.0 (Pie) on its predecessor, the Spark 4.

This is no doubt the biggest upgrade on the device. The Android 10 operating system comes with unique features including Live Caption, Sound Amplifier, Smart reply, system-wide Dark theme, etc.

Penta-Camera Setup

Should You Upgrade?

As you might have noticed, we didn’t talk about the RAM and internal storage features. This is because there was no upgrade in these departments, which is quite disappointing. RAM and internal storage size are key features we always look out for in an upgrade.

These Spark 5 specs don’t seem sufficient enough to ditch your Spark 4. Android 10 is the only feature upgrade that is worth considering, really.

However, since the device is a budget phone from TECNO — to be sold for at least N48,800 Nigerian Naira ($125) when launched— you might as well take the plunge. Perhaps, just for the sake of trying something new.
