MTN and Airtel Uganda are gradually bringing back Mobile Money sending charges tomorrow

MTN and Airtel Uganda have released a joint press release on changes coming to mobile money sending fees. At the beginning of the Covid-19 lockdown, the two telecos slashed charges on all Person to Person (P2P) and Mobile Wallet to bank transactions for a period of 30 days. Now that the lockdown is being eased tomorrow, the zero charges are ending today.

Effective tomorrow 26th May 2020, all MTN mobile money and Airtel money Person to Person ( P2P) transactions on the same network and Mobile Wallet to bank transactions will be gradually re-introduced at a 50% discount to standard tariffs for a period of 30 days.

However, the good news is all MoMo/Airtel Money pay transactions between customers and merchants will continue to attract zero transaction charges for the next 30 days. Below is the entire press release.
