Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.1 is finally here, but for developers to preview.
Windows Phone 8.1 is Microsoft’s latest iteration of its Mobile operating system that’s competing against Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. Registered Windows Phone developers can now start downloading the update on their devices. If you don’t have an account, you can register for an app developer account, which will cost you $19 a year as an individual or $99 a year as a company. Alternatively, you could first register as a developer at Microsoft’s App Studio page where you can create your own project.

WP 8.1 comes with the much awaited Notification center which manages Alerts, non-Toast notifications, update history, more. Also users will have a quick-access to customized actions, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Plane mode. Microsoft also makes a big push of Cortana, Microsoft’s digital assistant akin to Apple’s Siri or Google’s Google Now. Internet Explorer 11 with HTML 5 video support is also on the table, Swipe functionality is added to the Keyboard among other new features.
