KCPE 2022: How to Check your Form 1 Placement

form 1 placement

COVID really messed up the school calendars and as the ministry of education strives to bring that back to normalcy, we’ve seen everything from extra short holidays, multiple national exams in the same calendar year, extra long holidays and everything in between.

This has obviously placed a lot of stress on teachers, administrators and learners but somehow, things seem to be moving. Not too long ago, we saw the release of the KCPE 2022 exam results by the education CS. Parents and learners have since been anxious to know where the students will be transitioning to for their secondary school education.

Today, Education CS Machogu is set to officially announce the Form One placement results for the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination. In line with the government’s 100 percent transition policy, all the 1,233,852 candidates who sat for their exams should know where they’ll be joining once the new term begins later next week.

The Form One placement criteria have not changed. This selection still lays emphasis on merit, equity, and choice of the learner.

Usually, there are concerns that the selection based on these parameters will favor public schools as a way of moderating to compensate for the performance difference. As such, there have been calls for transparency and accountability in the selection process. Additionally, some call for children to be given the opportunity to attend the school of their choice and for parents of children in private schools to be treated equitably.

The Education sector is seeing a lot of changes and confusion especially surrounding the implementation of the Competency-based Curriculum (CBC). Here’s to hoping that the teething issues get addressed quickly so learners can focus on the most important tasks.
