These are unprecedented times for learners in the Kenyan Education system as the whole system readjusts to the shockwaves caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic. In 2022, we have seen 2 KCPE exams, one that was undertaken back in March and another towards the end of the year.
Today, learners who sat for their exams in November get to know their fate as the new Education CS Ezekiel Machogu announces and officially releases the exam results for the hundreds of thousands of learners.
In this post, we look at a bunch of ways for KCPE 2022 candidates to check their results from the Kenya National Examination Council.

Using KNEC SMS code 20076
As has been the case for many previous exams, the fastest way for pupils and guardians to check for their results has been by using the 20076 SMS code provided by the Kenya National Exam Council, KNEC.
To do this, the learner will need to send an SMS from either Safaricom, Airtel, or Telkom to 20076 with the Index Number. They should then receive a message with a breakdown of how they scored.
Find out how you performed in your KCPE wherever you are by texting your index number to 20076 at Kshs.25 per SMS. All the best! #KCPE2022 pic.twitter.com/c9jdLre1Ol— Airtel Kenya (@AIRTEL_KE) March 28, 2022
Hats off 🎓 to all #KCPE2022 candidates. The journey has not been easy but you’ve finished strong 📖 🖋️
Get your #KCPE results by sending the candidates index number to 20076, and receive a confirmation message.

Carriers have revealed that this service will attract a charge of Ksh. 25 per SMS so ensure you have at least that much in form of airtime.
Using the online KNEC portal
Of course, the official KNEC Portal is also available for users that might need to check the same online. To do so, simply follow these simple steps.
- Go to Official KNEC website knec.ac.ke
- Click on the KCPE Results tab then Select the year you sat for the Exams
- Enter your Index number and click Submit button to get your results.
Of course, learners will still need to collect their result slips and leaving certificates from their former primary schools, documents that will be crucial before admission to secondary schools. Also worth noting is that this is the second last group of candidates under the 8-4-4 education system, with the last group expected to sit the last KCPE exam next year.
With that, we wish all the KCPE 2022 Candidates all the best as they receive their results today. May the odds forever be in your favor.
