audible

Have you recently subscribed to an Audible membership plan? Or are you thinking about subscribing but want to be sure if it’s enough value for your money?

Audible is a great way to listen to books when commuting, meditating, or whenever you can’t physically pick up a book. In addition to books, there are thousands of podcasts and documentaries too. While your membership plan is a significant upgrade, many don’t know how to maximize their investment in this platform.

So in this article, we’ll be sharing seven tips and hacks you can use to get the most out of your audible membership.

What are the available audible membership plans?

For starters, there are two membership plans on Audible.

The Audible Plus: Here, you can listen to a selection of Originals, audiobooks, sleep tracks, meditation programs, and podcasts. You get a 30-day free trial and then pay $7.95 per month.

The Audible Premium Plus: In this plan, you get all the features listed in Plus, along with a free title a month from best sellers and new releases. You also get a 30-day free trial and then pay $14.95 per month afterward.

7 Tips and Tricks for Your Audible Membership Account

Now, once you’ve settled on the right plan for your needs, here are some tricks you should consider using when you get an Audible account;

1. Focus on the Audible Plus content

You want to start by enjoying the perks of your account especially if you’re on a free trial. So instead of looking through the free titles first, we recommend opting for titles in the plus catalog.

These options are solely available on your plan and you can get an array of books, podcasts, originals, sleep titles, and more.

2. Take advantage of the sleep collection

If you have trouble sleeping at night, we highly recommend using the sleep titles. Many Audible users focus on the books and podcasts that they fail to use options designed to help improve their sleep quality.

You have options that span across meditation sounds, bedtime stories, soundscapes, ASMR and so much more. With the soundscapes, you can listen to the sounds of nature gotten from the Atlantic and other treasures.

If you prefer to listen to someone talk, there are multiple soothing voices from meditation experts to guide you to sleep.

3. Sync with Alexa

There are so many times you’d be cleaning, working at home or even driving. Rather than using your headphones which might be restrictive, sync your account with Alexa for a hands-free mode. It’s also great if you’d want a good night’s sleep with the help of the sleep collection. You can simply pair your Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices to enjoy stories or sounds

So to get started, simply launch the voice command  – “Alexa, Play Audible”. If you have specific titles, or you want to continue from one you’ve been previously reading, try some of these commands.

4. Pause your membership

Let’s be honest, there are some weeks or months when you won’t be using your Audible account just as much. Instead of leaving your subscription and credits rolling, you can actually put your membership on hold.

Now although you won’t be able to access Audible plus titles within this period, it’s a great way to save costs especially if you’ll be away from it.

To pause your membership, simply follow these steps

If you don’t see this option, it means that you’re not eligible to pause your membership yourself. Simply reach out to customer care and they’ll assist you with it.

5. Return the books you don’t like

What happens when you purchase a book you don’t like? Well, you can either exchange or return them! Instead of leaving it on your list for years, get a title you’d really like.

To do this, simply visit your purchase history, tap on the book, and then ‘Return this title’.

The only caveat here is that you have to do this within 365 days of the original purchase. So we highly recommend browsing through those items you have now.

6. Keep an eye out for sales season

If you ever shop on Amazon, you’ll know sometimes, you can get items for ridiculously cheap prices. Well, this extends to Audible as well.

On Audible, there are three types of deals you can take advantage of. The daily deals, monthly always a deal, and occasional special offers.

So, if you have a favorite book you’re keeping an eye on, we recommend looking through the deal options regularly. If you can’t manually do this, you can subscribe to receive daily emails about the available deals. You might just save a fortune.

7. Use the offline feature

Since Audible was designed for on-the-go listening, using the offline feature when you’re on the train or out of internet coverage can be very handy. So, when you purchase a book as a member, you can choose to listen to it offline. Download the mobile app, and enjoy this feature for free.
