And the most common way to reduce these distractions and minimize unwanted interactions from random users is to either Mute the individual (This means you no longer see any of their posts online) or block them entirely.
This works better than just unfollowing them as social media platforms now show you posts of people you do not follow. Threads, just like every other social app out there allow users to either mute or block other users on the app.

How to Mute and Block Users on Threads
Mute a Profile:
- Open the Threads app on your smartphone.
- Navigate to the profile of the users that you’d like to mute.
- Click on the three dots on the top-right of their profile.
- Next, from the menu, select Mute, and you are done.
- You can unmute the user at any time. All you just need to do is visit the user’s profile, from the menu, select Unmute, and you are done.
You can also mute a single post without muting the user’s entire profile. Here’s how:
- From your Threads homepage, navigate to the thread of the user that you’d like to mute.
- Next, tap the menu (three-dot) icon at the top right corner of the thread.
- From the menu that is displayed, tap on the Mute option, and then tap Mute Post.
Block a Profile:
- On the Threads timeline, navigate to the profile of the person you wish to block. Alternatively, you can use the Search button to find the user’s profile.
- Open the user’s profile and tap the menu (three-dot) icon.
- Select Block from the popup at the bottom.
