Who’s using your Netflix account? Here’s how to find out

Netflix is, no doubts, one of the most popular streaming service provider in the world. With more than half a billion app installs and about 150 million active subscribers, almost everyone uses the streaming service on their phones, tablets, laptops, TVs, and just about anywhere that Netflix can be used.

Despite the huge amount of people that use the service, however, not everyone actually pays for it. With a single account, users can watch movies on up to four (4) different devices simultaneously. Sharing of login credentials is also a common practice among Netflix users…and Netflix (as a company) doesn’t care that multiple people share one account/password.

If you own a Netflix account with multiple people sharing the account with you, it is important that you monitor people that use the account. This is for privacy reasons as anyone with your login credentials can not only watch movies but also has unhindered access to some of your personal information like name, credit card details, phone number, etc.

A. Check Recent Device Streaming Activity

1. On the mobile app, tap “More” at the bottom menu and select “Account

2. Under the “Settings” section, select “Recent device streaming activity”.

Alternatively, you can simply click this link to open the Recent Device Streaming activity page.

This will open up a page that shows you the most recently used devices on your account as well as the location and the IP address(es) your account is being used from.

If you find any unusual or strange device or location on the list, be sure to:

  1. Change your Netflix password, and
  2. Sign out of all devices by visiting this page. Signing out of all devices might take a long time (about 8 hours) to reflect but it eventually will be done. And when it is, users will be asked to sign in with the new password.

If you have previously shared your Netflix account credentials but have lost track of people you gave it to, this is a brilliant way to keep your account safe and private again.
