Many Telcos introduced a ‘borrow airtime’ feature some years back in Nigeria and this has literally saved a lot of users from being stranded. So, if you’re about to make that call and realise you don’t have airtime and also don’t have access to purchase immediately, borrowing from the Telcos is a good way to go.

Borrow Airtime In Nigeria
Borrow Airtime From MTN
Follow the steps below to borrow airtime if you’re on the MTN network.
- Dial *606# from an MTN line
- Select a preferred amount that you want to borrow
- You’d receive a message with the airtime you want to borrow and the service charge (including VAT) that was charged. This confirms your transaction.
Service charge: 15%
Borrow Airtime From Airtel
If you use an Airtel line, please follow the steps below to borrow airtime from the Telco.
- Dial *500*amount_you_intend_to_borrow# from your Airtel line e.g *500*1000#
- You’d get a message that says your request is being processed
- You’d receive the borrowed amount in a couple of minutes.

Borrow Airtime From Glo
Follow the steps below to borrow airtime with a Glo line.
- Dial *321#
- Select an airtime amount option you want to borrow
- Tap Send
Service charge: 10%
Borrow Airtime From Etisalat
The steps below shows you how to borrow airtime from an Etisalat line.
- Dial *665*amount# from your Etisalat line e.g *665*1000#
- Send
Service charge: 10%
Usually, when users borrow airtime from any of the networks, the service charge is removed from the airtime borrowed.
Also, different networks have their own ways of determining if a user is eligible to borrow airtime from them. This can be determined based on the frequency and amount of airtime recharge by a person.
