The AirPods are very useful but because of their nature, they can get lost easily. Especially when there’s no case that attaches it to the owner’s body. However, the good news is that you can find your lost AirPods with your iPhone if they’re connected. This is using the FindMy app on your iPhone.

In this post, we’ll take you through two routes you can use to find your lost AirPods. Both routes are embedded in the FindMy app and are used depending on how far away you think the AirPods are away from you. Let’s go through both of the ways.

Find Lost AirPods With Your iPhone

1. Play Sound

If you lose your AirPods, you can decide to play sounds from it so you can locate them. This works better if you suspect that the AirPods are somewhere around you in the house. If they are a bit far from where you are, chances are you won’t even hear the sound it plays.

Follow the steps below to play sounds and find your AirPods.

Your AirPods need to be connected for this to work. For AirPods 3, your AirPods don’t need to be out of the case to play the sound. This is unlike the AirPods Pro.

2. Find Nearby

If you don’t think your AirPods are close by, you should use the Find Nearby option instead. This will direct you to the location of your AirPods using the connection. Follow the steps below to do this.

This is a great way to always find your lost AirPods with your iPhone. Especially as they can get easily lost under the bed, behind the TV, or under the refrigerator because of their small size.

However, you should note that this mode will likely not work if you lose your AirPods in a very far location from where you are at the point of looking for it because it needs to be connected to work.
