Save time & Increase Productivity with these G Suite Shortcuts

We all love shortcuts, don’t we? I mean, who wouldn’t jump at tools that help shorten the amount of time we spend on certain tasks? Shortcuts are life (and time) savers; we use them every day on our Windows PCs, Mac computers, mobile devices, on YouTube, and other apps.

Google understands how important shortcuts can be and in that light introduced a bunch of shortcuts to help users easily create new files in their respective G Suite apps — Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Google Sites, Slides, etc.

By utilizing the .new top-level domain (TLD) which it owns and operates, you can now quickly create new documents in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites, and Forms by typing dedicated and customized shortcuts into your browsers address bar. Simply type in the keyword + the .new domain at the end to create new G Suites files.

For example, in place of opening Google Drive or Google Docs (via docs.google.com) to create a new Docs file, you can simply type in docs.new or doc.new into your browser’s address bar and a fresh Docs dashboard will be opened. Same thing applies for Google Sheets (sheet.new or sheets.new) and all other G Suite applications. All the shortcuts are listed below.

Presently, these five (5) apps are the only Google apps that support the .new domain shortcuts. We expect to see more shortcuts roll out in the future. Perhaps, an email.new shortcut to compose new emails?

The best things about these shortcuts are the fact that they work with any browser and device (PC or mobile). To use the shortcuts, however, you need to be logged into your Google account on whatever browser you use.
