Consumer electronics vendor Konka now has a store in Kampala Uganda

Chances are that one of your home electronic appliances is from Samsung, LG, Toshiba or Sony. That’s because these vendors have authorized distributors around the country. But a new consumer electronics brand, Konka has opened shop in Uganda.

Konka Group Co., Ltd.  is a Chinese manufacturer of electronics and telecommunication products based in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China. The Company is principally engaged in the manufacture and sale of color televisions (TVs), set-top boxes, Fridges and major appliances.

When we visited the Konka store on Jinja road Kampala, they had flat screen TVs ranging from Ugx 1.9m to 6 million, free-to-air decoders or set-top boxes, smartphones and fridges of all sizes. While Konka might have great products, they are not a known brand in Uganda. That means they have to do aggressive advertising and promotions to gain market traction.
