Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) now has a mobile app for real-time monitoring of stocks

The NSE is soon set to launch their mobile app that will offer investors and the general public a real-time feed of what’s happening at the national stocks exchange. Monday, NSE said investors, media, financial advisers and the public will access real-time stock prices, market analytics, economic statistics, financial news, market snapshots and the NSE broker directory.

The new portal that is powered by Nutcracker Technologies Kenya Ltd will see all financial information and services streamed live on the portal. This is meant to increase the number of transactions by making access available to a far greater audience.

Nutcracker was launched back in 2000 in South Africa by Mike Casey and Dean Casey. Nutcracker develops software applications, customized to a customer’s specifications. These applications help monitor, among other things, real-time financial markets for specific clients subscribing to its service. This mainly targets emerging African economies.

NSE is cashing in on increased mobile phone use by Kenyans who now access banks on apps to settle bills, transfer cash, and shop online.
