Google TV Now Has a World Cup 2026 Hub With Live Matches, Highlights, and Streaming Links

Google TV is rolling out a home screen update today that adds a dedicated 2026 FIFA World Cup hub, pulling live match streams, upcoming game schedules, and post-match content from multiple apps into one place on the home screen — no app-hopping required.

The hub surfaces inside a Sports topic page accessible from the featured carousel. It draws content from Fox One, Tubi, and other services carrying World Cup rights, and covers four types of content: live matches you can jump into directly, upcoming fixtures with kickoff times, YouTube match highlights for games you missed, and post-game breakdowns with expert commentary and team analysis. The update went live on June 11 and runs through July 19, covering the full tournament.

The 2026 World Cup is hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico — the first edition with 48 national teams — with US broadcast rights split between Fox and Telemundo. Fragmented streaming rights have long been a frustration for cord-cutters: different matches on different apps, each requiring its own search. The Google TV hub addresses this by aggregating what’s on and where, rather than requiring users to open each app individually.

The World Cup update comes as Google is separately expanding Gemini’s role on Google TV hardware. Earlier this week, the company rolled out Gemini voice controls to select TCL TV models, allowing users to adjust settings, search for content, and navigate menus using conversational commands. Google says 3.5 million users have already tested Gemini for Home as part of an early access programme ahead of an upcoming Google Home Speaker launch.

For Google TV users, no manual action is needed — the World Cup hub appears automatically on the home screen. The update applies to Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, and any other device running Google TV software. Users outside markets where Fox One and Tubi are available may see a lighter version of the hub depending on which services are present on their device.
