There is no denying the popularity of the smartphone. The iPhone and Android are responsible for generating many trends and innovations in the world of technology. Mobile internet is an area in particular that is booming at the moment. You can expect mobile internet to only increase in terms of users and connectivity via new smartphone high speed internet providers. In fact, many believe that the iPhone and Android phones are driving a wireless bandwidth boom, and there’s definitely proof to back this up.
Carriers are trying their best to boost bandwidth
Adapting to mobile internet was never something that was going to happen overnight. Carriers wanted to bring the option to their users as soon as possible, meaning improvements had to come along the way. One of the main improvements that needed and still needs to be made is speed. There are providers whereby mobile internet is still very slow, yet they are doing their utmost to improve the bandwidth used.
The scope of bandwidth available to cell towers
Many would be in agreement that the main measurement worth considering is the level of bandwidth attainable to the cell towers. Older generation technologies still make up most mobile companies today. With these you can expect them to offer the cell towers approximately six to ten megabits per every second of bandwidth capacity. However, this is no longer deemed substantial enough with the massive boom in the amount of data used because of the iPhone and Android smartphones. Because of this a rise in bandwidth providers and capability is taking place, yet it has still not reached the optimum levels required.
Demand is driving the boom
The demand for increased bandwidth and high speed internet providers is inevitably going to lead to the increase of supply. After all, the research and figures show that wireless networks and data used are only going to grow. A bandwidth boom is actually going to be a necessity. Why? Well, research shows that just over 70 per cent of wireless subscribers will use 3G and 4G cellular services – this relates to more than four and a half billion people.
The future of bandwidth
The increased demand for more bandwidth should not be a worry to the technology industry. In fact, it should be viewed as more of an opportunity. Established companies and start-ups alike now have the chance to increase their scope of broadband network products. Not only this, but there is opportunity in the form of fiber networks as well. These can be straightforwardly upgraded in order to handle any amount of bandwidth that is required. Thus, as demand increases and more people switch to 4G, fiber wireless should deal with this at ease.
It is of little surprise that Android and iPhone smartphones have had such mass effects on the industry. After all, their innovation and popularity combined was always going to be a dominant force. The drive for a bandwidth boom has been generated from the soaring amount of data utilized. This part of the industry is only going to grow and grow so you can expect to see progressions ongoing long into the future.
