Bolt, formerly known as Taxify has launched its food delivery business (Bolt food). The food delivery service was launched in Tallinn, Estonia – where it has its headquarters, it is expected to expand to roll out the service this year to other countries including; South Africa, Latvia and Lithuania.
Bolt, even with its ride-hailing service present in over 30 countries, is coming into the food delivery business very late. It announced it’ll be going into the food delivery business a few months after it rebranded its service from Taxify.
During an interview with the Reuters the Chief product officer at Bolt, Jevgeni Kabanov, said, “This is a very competitive market, However, we have more than 25 million people around the world using Bolt and food delivery has been a popular request for quite some time.”
Kabanov added, “I would say food delivery is the third big product launch for us. It fits very neatly into our strategy.”
In Nigeria, Bolt Food will have to contend with other Food delivery services like Jumia Food and UberEats.
