Tecno POVA 5G is Tecno’s First 5G Smartphone, But Should You Buy It?

Just recently, Smartphone giant, Tecno, announced its first smartphone for the year 2022, dubbed Tecno POVA 5G. The smartphone brand is beginning its journey in 5G with this device. The smartphone has already launched in some markets like Nigeria, and will be available for sale in other markets across Africa and India sometime in January 2022. The POVA 5G comes with some jaw-dropping specifications: a 6000mAh battery +18W fast charging, 5G flagship chip, 120Hz refresh rate, and a lot more. In this article, we will be taking a look at this device; its specifications and all the features it comes with.

Tecno POVA 5G Key Specs

The POVA 5G features a 6.9inch FHD+Dot-in Display to give users an ultra-clear viewing experience. To add to that, the display has 480ppi pixel density, an 82.8 percent screen-to-body ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. For gamers, this 120Hz high refresh rate improves blurring and dragging while gaming. It also makes web scrolling and application animations smoother and smoother. The display of this device also houses the punch-hole notch front selfie camera lens.

The POVA 5G smartphone is one of the very few devices that is powered by a huge 6000mAh battery. Backed by a 6000mAh battery, you’ll never worry about power cuts. And according to Tecno, you can play game up to 17 hours, playing music continuously for 24 hours, watching video for 20 hours, continuous calling to 40 hours and surfing the Internet for 15 hours. Its 18W fast charge ensures that you can game for 3 hours or play music for 12 hours after just 15 minutes of charge.

The Tecno Pova 5G is backed by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 900 processor coupled with the Mali G68 GPU. To support that is an 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

Should You Buy It?

Apart from its 5G capability, there are couple of other features that standout for me. One of which is the 6000mAh battery. The 5G flagship chip is another. The MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G Processor and the 6nm High-performance Processor promises to deliver faster application responsiveness, higher and more stable gaming frame rates, and a better network connectivity experience.

Looking at these specs, and then the price of this device (N147,000 ($300) in Nigeria), I think it is worth every penny, and you should go for it if you’re looking to purchase a new smartphone.
