It’s that time of the year when parents and students are on the edge of their seats after the announcement that KCSE results are yet to be released. This comes days after the release of KCPE results by the CS for education professor George Magoha. COVID-19 had an effect on the school calendar and students who were set to seat for their KCSE in 2021 did it early in 2022.

The ball is already in motion with the official release of the examinations set to happen at KNEC offices in the presence of most education stakeholders.

This year KCSE examination saw an increase in the number of students who sat for the examination in comparison to previous years. The number of students who sat for the exam last year was 752,982 while this year there was a 9.39% increase to 831,015 candidates.

How to check your KCSE 2021 results.

Candidates are able to get their results through two distinct methods. They could either use an SMS carrier or use the official KNEC portal to access their results.

How to access KCSE results through SMS.

To check your results via SMS

  • Go to your Messaging app
  • Key in your index number
  • Send the text to 20076

Note: The cost of sending the SMS is Ksh. 25

All carriers can be used to access your results. So, you don’t have to worry whether or not your Airtel or Telkom line will let you access your results.

Heads of schools on the other hand can get access to results through the official KNEC platform. Note that this only applies to school heads and not regular parents and students.

The announcement of the KCSE 2021 examination paves way for those who have qualified to join Universities and colleges later in the year. Students were given a time frame to choose the courses they were interested in earlier on in the year. For those who will qualify for university, the reporting dates are set to be in June. Those who qualify for colleges and TVET institutions on the other hand are scheduled to report in September.
