Xiaomi‘s Redmi brand has confirmed the Turbo 5 will launch in India on June 16, going on sale exclusively via Amazon. It is the first time the Turbo series enters the Indian market, and Redmi is positioning it as the fastest and highest-spec phone it has ever sold in the country.
The Turbo 5 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra — Redmi’s confirmed choice for the chipset. The phone supports up to 24GB of total RAM, combining 12GB of physical LPDDR5X memory with up to 12GB of virtual RAM expanded from storage, alongside UFS 4.1 internal storage. Based on specs matching its Chinese counterpart (which Redmi has not officially denied), the India variant is expected to feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display running at 120Hz with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. Camera hardware is expected to include a 50MP Sony IMX882 primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 20MP front camera — though Redmi has not confirmed the full camera spec for the India model yet.
The standout spec is the battery: 7,560mAh with 100W fast charging. Redmi has itself been teasing the battery as “the largest ever on a Redmi handset,” and at that capacity it surpasses most flagship phones, let alone mid-rangers. A 100W charging speed means a full charge from flat in roughly 45–50 minutes based on comparable MediaTek-powered phones. The Turbo 5 will be available in black and white at launch, though Redmi has not announced the official colour names yet. Amazon India already has a dedicated microsite live ahead of the June 16 date.
Pricing has not been disclosed. Digit.in reports that the Turbo 5 is expected to land in the ₹30,000–₹35,000 range — roughly $360–$420 — which puts it in direct competition with the iQOO Neo 10R, Realme GT 7, and Samsung Galaxy A56 5G. If Redmi hits the lower end of that estimate, the Turbo 5’s combination of chipset performance, battery capacity, and Sony camera hardware would make it one of the most competitive offerings in the segment.
The Redmi Turbo series has been a strong seller in China since its debut, where the Turbo 4 and Turbo 4 Pro positioned Redmi firmly in the premium mid-range against Realme and iQOO. India is the brand’s largest market outside China, and bringing the Turbo line there — rather than only the standard Redmi Note series — signals that Xiaomi sees room to push upmarket beyond the budget tier where Redmi has traditionally competed in India.
