Oppo has today officially unveiled the Oppo F9 in Kenya in a pomp filled event in the capital Nairobi. Oppo’s F-line of devices has got to be the most popular in Kenya right now. And rightfully so, this line of devices offers pretty cutting edge design, decent performance all at a rather fair price. The newest device in the line, the Oppo F9 spots a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display and also equips a rather unique waterdrop notch. It has 19.5:9 aspect ratio giving a 90.8% screen-to-body fraction.
To me, and many other enthusiats, the headlining feature of the new Oppo F9, other than the cute little notch, is the company’s proprietary fast charging technology, VOOC. This has for a long time been reserved for the much more expensive Oppo devices. A rebranded version of the same technology is used in OnePlus devices as Dash Charge and boy are the reviews intriguing. VOOC technology uses low voltage and high current charging solution. This makes it possible to charge F9 for 5 minutes and receive 2 hours of talk time.

The Oppo F9 comes in three very vibrant colors, descriptively named
- Starry Purple
- Sunrise Red and
- Twilight Blue.
Pricing and Availability
At the moment, the OPPO F9 is on pre-order and this will go on until the 23rd of September. The 4GB variant of the F9 will go for Kes.35,990 and Kes.37,990 for the 6GB option. Sales of the device start on September 24th. Also announced at the launch event was a new scheme that would allow current OPPO smartphone owners to trade-in their devices and top up the amount to get the OPPO F9.
Lipa Later says they have an agreement with @OPPO_Kenya for you to pay for your F9 in monthly installments of Ksh 3729. You get insurance, mobile cover included.

Of course this will be based on the condition of the current phone. Lipa Later will also be offering the F9 on a monthly installment of at least Kes.3729 which includes insurance against theft and a free case.
