How To Get COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate in Kenya

COVID-19 has been the center of many facets of our lives over the past few years. Luckily, there might be a way out of this crisis after all. Governments around the world are now focusing on offering their populations access to COVID-19 vaccines and Kenya is no different.

Any Kenyan citizen above the age of 18 can walk into any of the accredited vaccination centers across the country and get vaccinated. (Subject to vaccine availability of course.)

A few months ago, while appearing before the National Assembly’s Health Committee yesterday, Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache said that fully vaccinated people can download their certificate from the Chanjo platform and present it to travel agencies.

“After getting your two doses, you can easily get your certificate through the platform and present it to various traveling agencies,”

So yes, getting your COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate in Kenya is pretty easy and in this post, we shall quickly guide you through how to do so.

It is recommended that you do this after getting both doses as you won’t be issued with a certificate if you haven’t been fully vaccinated.

  1. Go to https://portal.health.go.ke and create an account if you don’t have one already. It is important to ensure your info is correct so make sure you double check.
  2. Once on the Dashboard, you might be asked to enter your identification type, along with the ID number.

You need to enter the ID Type and ID Number that you used when signing up to book an appointment or the one you provided at the Vaccination center.

Select the options and key in your info correctly and proceed to search for vaccinee. Should everything work out, you will see details you provided at the vaccination center, info about your next of kin, and so on.

If everything is in order, find and click on the Vaccination Tab to get details on your vaccination status. If you have already gotten your two doses, your page should look like this.

If you have received your two COVID-19 vaccine doses, you should see a button for ‘Vaccination Certificate‘.

This should then lead you to a page with your COVID-19 Vaccination certificate with the option to download it as a PDF. Simply download it and save it for use and you can even print it afterward should you need to.

And that is it! In other countries, you need to present your vaccination certificate to be able to visit many establishments and while Kenya hasn’t gotten to that level yet, it is pretty important that we all get vaccinated so go on, get those life-saving jabs.

Update (November 25)

IST 10:21 am: With the Kenyan Government announcing a raft of new sanctions for Kenyans who haven’t been vaccinated, it is a race to the vaccination centers for persons not vaccinated yet. For those fully vaccinated, it might be wise to download your certificate now.
