How to reset a Yeelight LED bulb

If you own a Yelight Smart bulb, you might occasionally want to reset it. Perhaps, you are connecting it to a new network or you wish to give it away or sell it off. Whatever, the case, resetting a Yeelight LED is pretty easy. Before you get started, connect it to your light fixture or bulb holder and turn it on.

Then power cycle it 5 times. Put it another way, switch it on and off five times with 1 second intervals until the light that’s blinking. If it’s a color light, it’ll cycle through different colors. This is how you know that you’ve successfully reset the bulb.

If you are resetting your Yeelight as part of troubleshooting, then you might want to read through our post on How to fix Yeelight bulb not connecting to your WiFi Router. If your Yeelight can’t connect to the WiFi router during the setup process, then before you reset it, try the following;

  • Make sure you’re connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi band
  • Use WPA/WPA2 WiFi security option on your WiFi router.
  • Change the DNS Servers of your router to Google’s Public DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
