Apple finally made good on its promise to give us a sequel to its true wireless headphones, given the numerous complaints from users of the first generation on its “waterproofing issues,” long battery life, and sound quality. The AirPods Pro 2nd generation has several updates that improve the initial experience of using wireless earphones. They have an upgraded wireless chip, with major upgrades to their Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes. Additionally, the new charging case is said to be more energy-efficient.
The AirPods Pro 2nd generation will be available to preorder online and in the Apple Store app starting Friday, September 9, with availability in stores beginning Friday, September 23. Here are some of the upgrades in the AirPods Pro 2.
Transparency Mode
The new H2 chip cancels double as much noise as the AirPods Pro 1st generation. The AirPods Pro 2nd generation also comes with a new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier to provide clearer audio.
The H2 chip in AirPods lets you stay aware of your surroundings while listening to audio. If there is a loud noise in the background, Adaptive Transparency will reduce the volume of the audio you are listening to and then gradually increase the volume once the background noise has passed.
Personalized Spatial Audio
To have a more personalized listening experience, the AirPods Pro 2nd generation comes with Personalised Spatial Audio. Here, you can use the TrueDepth camera on your iPhone to create a personal profile for Spatial Audio that matches your ears perfectly. You can then enjoy Personalized Spatial Audio when listening to music and watching movies across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

Instant Pairing
Apple has redesigned the AirPods to make setup effortless because it is known for its ease of use and simplicity. Instant pairing to all Apple devices means you can use these AirPods with any iPhone or iPad right out of the box. Just open the case near your device for instant pairing. And when you’re ready to switch devices, close the lid on your case—it’s that easy!
Touch Control
The AirPods Pro 2 come with touch-control on the stem, allowing you to adjust volume, change music, answer phone calls, and make Siri requests hands-free. The improved built-in skin-detect sensor means a simple swipe up or down, or taps on the AirPods stem can execute functions quickly.
More Battery Life and Flexible Charging
AirPods Pro 2nd generation offer up to six hours of usage with Active Noise Cancellation. When using the case for recharging, you can use the AirPods for up to 30 hours with Active Noise Cancellation. The AirPods Pro 2 offers six hours more than the AirPods Pro 1st generation. You will also be able to charge the AirPods Pro 2nd generation with an Apple Watch charger, a MagSafe charger, or the Lightning cable.
Redesigned Charging Case
The AirPods Pro 2nd generation come with a new charging case that is sweat and water-resistant and has Precision Finding so you can easily locate it if it is lost.
