Last week, WhatApp confounded many with the launch of a new version with updated notifications. The virally known blue ticks would show whether a message had been read or not, supplementing the already existing notifications ticks that show if a message had been delivered or not.
Take a deep breath, all is now different. In the newest version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.11.44), you will be able to disable the “read receipts.” Through accessing the privacy settings, the read receipts can be disabled –they are the ones that include details of every opened and read text sent over the messaging platform.
According to Android Police, the update is only available via WhatApp’s website although it’s safe to assume that it will be officially rolled out on the Android, iOS and Windows Phone stores sooner than later.
