I can’t say that I remember most of my browser passwords with any certainty. Instead, what I do is I save the lot of them on my Google account for safe keeping. This can be convenient, as I don’t have to remember or type my passwords every time I visit those sites. However, whenever I am curious enough to want to see what passwords I have saved, or delete some of them if I no longer need them, I can do that as well. In this article, I will show you how to see your saved passwords on your Google account using different methods.
In Chrome
If you use Google Chrome as your browser, you can access your saved passwords from the Chrome settings menu. Here are the steps to do so:
- Open Chrome and click on the three-dot icon at the top right corner of the browser window.
- Tap on Google Password Manager in the drop-down menu.
- You will see a list of websites for which you have saved passwords, along with your usernames or email addresses.
- If you wish to see your password, click on the profile. A Google sign in pop up window will appear. Enter your Google password again.
- If you have a fingerprint sensor on your device, you can use it to unlock your passwords instead of typing them in.
- Tap on the eye icon to see your saved password.
Alternatively, you can install [Google Password Manager] extension in Chrome to streamline the process.
Browsers with a Google account
You can access your saved passwords from any browser that is signed in with your Google account. Here are the steps to do so:
- Go to [https://myaccount.google.com/] to access your Google account settings.
- Verify that it’s you by signing into your Google account.
- Navigate to the Security tab and scroll down to Your Saved Passwords.
- You will see a list of websites for which you have saved passwords, along with your usernames or email addresses.
- If you wish to see your password, click on the profile. A Google sign in pop up window will appear. Enter your Google password again.
- Tap on the eye icon to see your saved password.
On Android
If you use an Android device that is signed in with your Google account, you can also access your saved passwords from the device settings. Here are the steps to do so:
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Google.
- Tap Manage your Google Account.
- Tap Security.
- Scroll down to Password Manager.
- Tap the password you want to view.
- Enter your screen lock PIN, pattern, or password.
- Your password will be displayed.
Conclusion
From time to time, I have to enter a long-forgotten password. This usually happens when I am setting up a new device or browser. Saving my passwords in my Google account saves me the hustle of having to memorize them or save them elsewhere. Luckily, you will be prompted to save your passwords on your Android and in your browser. With password sync, you always have your passwords in all your synced devices.
