How to Legally Get Free Books on Your Kindle

There’s always the temptation to download free books from illegal sites – because, they are free. However, aside from the poor quality of these books, real bibliophiles know how much work authors put into publishing a book. And so, getting paid books illegally strips them of any potential profit they might make from it. This is why we recommend legally getting free books for your Kindle.

In this post, we’ll show you multiple ways to get great titles without compromising book quality and any royalties an author should get for their work.

1. Take Advantage of Amazon Prime

If you have an Amazon Prime subscription or free trial, you automatically have access to tons of free books through Amazon Prime Reading. You don’t need to make any further subscriptions to access this.

However, since it allows you to read select titles for free, there are certain guidelines to help keep things orderly. For starters, you can only borrow books, not own them. But, you’re allowed to keep those books for as long as you want to – just make sure your Amazon Prime membership stays intact within this period.

Next, you can only borrow up to ten titles. Once you exceed this amount, you’ll be required to return books before you can borrow new ones.

To access this option, simply visit Prime Reading on your Amazon account or browse titles under this category on your Kindle device.

2. Don’t Ignore the Kindle Unlimited Free Trial

If you’re a voracious reader who can go through tens of titles in a month, we highly recommend using a Kindle Unlimited free trial. Although it operates on a subscription-based model, you get three free months on the trial plan.

During this period, you get access to thousands of exclusive titles and audiobooks, all for free. There are also more books available especially when compared to Amazon Prime. Plus, you can read them both on your Kindle device or any other device that has the Kindle app on it.

To gain access to this feature, simply visit the Kindle Unlimited section on your Amazon account and subscribe. Please note that the books you get here are borrowed. And so once the trial period ends, your library automatically goes back to the way it was before.

3. Stay Up to Date with the Free Kindle Book Deals on Amazon

Believe it or not, there are a lot of free Kindle books on Amazon – you just need to know where to look. While this might not be as easy as it seems, if you stay up to date with book deals, you’ll definitely be snagging great titles for free.

Usually, Kindle alerts bibliophiles when these deals happen through their exclusive newsletters. So all you need to do is go to the mailing list section and subscribe to receive deals in your preferred section.

4.  Just Search for Free Books on Amazon

This might seem unlikely but we’ve been able to get so many unpopular titles using this method. Log in to your Amazon account and search for “free books”. What happens is, you’ll get a list of books that are free to read on Kindle.

Usually, you’ll see the price for other variations like paperback and hardcover but, they’ll be free on Kindle. Just add that to your Kindle library and you can read it on your Kindle app or device.

5. Download from Open Libraries

Our final hack is that you can always download books to your Kindle but they have to be from legitimate and verified libraries. For example, Project Gutenberg is a great open-source library that offers thousands of titles. This is a great option because the books here have expired copyrights and mostly classic titles.

Another great alternative is Many Books as it has properly curated categories you can browse through. You can use these options to download books and send them to your Kindle device either via email or through a USB cable.

There are many ways to get free books for your Kindle legitimately. We hope these options help you get the titles you love. Don’t forget to share this post with your friends and family who need this.
